BBC – Mount Pleasant: Mayor gives go-ahead for development

Here’s the BBC’s coverage of the Mayor’s approval of the Royal Mail’s Mount Pleasant scheme, which includes the incident in the hearing which drew the most consternation (and laughter) from the public gallery, when the GLA’s case officer described unattractive bulky brick-clad concrete-frame structures as ‘London Vernacular Style’.

Even the irrepressible 17th century property speculator, Nicholas If-Jesus-Christ-Had-Not-Died-For-Thee-Thou-Hadst-Been-Damned Barbon, who made a fortune from covering our neighbourhood in bricks, might have choked on that one!
