Boris Approves Convoys Wharf – the only other pre-council decision call in besides Mount Pleasant

The Mayor, Boris Johnson, has today given planning approval for Convoy’s Wharf in Deptford, citing London’s need for more housing and the fact the process had stalled for too long. The planning application was called in by the Mayor last October and was the first to be called in before it had reached a council decision. Mount Pleasant was the second.

At least the developer at Convoy’s Wharf has had to build a school and community centre, and the local community has been engaged. Despite having made £750m in one day after privatisation, the Royal Mail Group is neither making such offers or willing to engage the community.
